Electron-transport materials based on organic electron accepting molecules

For these cells, there is the need to develop alternative hole-transport materials, as outlined in the attached paper, since the PEDOT commonly used can absorb moisture and has long-term stability issues. There is also the need to develop new electron transport since the PCBM normally used is very expensive. In my lab, we are working on both these aspects. The work involves synthesis of the new HTM or ETM, followed by structural and electronic (NMR, mass spec, XRD, UV/Vis, electrochemistry, photoluminescence, computation), and then device studies You dont need to write a lot for a research proposal just enough to give an idea of the research area. From my side, I would prefer not to work on graphene or graphene oxide type materials. Electron-transport materials based on organic electron accepting molecules, either mono-molecular or polymeric would be of high interest to me. Similar for hole-transport materials.
